For over 100 years, boxers have stepped into the Olympic ring with the goal of winning a gold medal for their country.
The same thing will happen at the 2024 Olympics, when the world's best athletes will face off in the City of Light.
Here's everything you need to know about boxing at the Paris 2024 Olympics:
What boxing events will be featured in the 2024 Olympics?
Boxing weight classes have yet to be determined for the Olympics but will likely be the same as in years past, with men and women sparring separately and split into several weight classes ranging from flyweight to super heavyweight.
What are the rules for boxing at the 2024 Olympics?
In an Olympic bout, a boxer wins by scoring the most points over three rounds.
After each round, a winner will be determined based on the judging criteria and will be awarded 10 points. Losers of a round will be awarded 7-9 points depending on their performance and may have points deducted for any infractions.
If all five judges agree that a boxer fought at least two rounds, that boxer can win by unanimous decision. If all judges do not agree, a split decision will determine the winner.
