YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – Southside Boxing Club will host SummerSlam 2024 this Saturday at Penguin City Brewery, featuring 12 amateur bouts.
“These kids are doing great with ticket sales. We have a lot of kids from area gyms on the card. We've got kids from as far away as Michigan,” said Jack Rowe, owner of Southside Boxing Club. “It's a big show. The arena is always full that night and ringside is already sold out. We're hoping for a sellout next time too.”
Of the 12 bouts, Anthony Scandi III (2-0, 2 TKOs) will be returning to the ring in the main event after taking some time off to pursue his degree.
“He's a very smart kid, but he wanted to get back in the ring for a little while before getting his master's degree,” Law said.
Before that, there will also be two co-main events between Cardinal Mooney freshmen Chris Vass and Antwan “Radio” Peoples (8-1), and another main event featuring Dontrail Burks.
“We had to close down last time and there were a lot of angry people, so now we're telling people they're going to be sold out,” Rowe said.
Gates open at 6 p.m., with the first game at 7 p.m. at Penguin City Brewery on E. Federal Street in Youngstown.
Tickets can be purchased by calling (330) 501-5713 or by stopping by Southside Boxing Club, located at 3311 Erie Street in Youngstown.
