Prior to his decision to fight Jake Paul, Mike Perry was in negotiations to face Dillon Danis in an MMA fight.
The bout was meant to be Platinum's first inside the cage since her last UFC appearance in 2021.

Mike Perry is close to agreeing to a deal to fight Dillon Danis in an MMA match
On July 20th at the Amalie Arena in Tampa, Florida, USA, Mike Perry will finally settle his score with Jake Paul in a highly anticipated showdown.
A few years ago, the world wanted to know who was the better boxer after these two fought a fierce battle that ended with completely opposite stories, and now they have both been given the opportunity to prove their claim beyond a shadow of a doubt.
Since leaving the UFC, the veteran MMA fighter has stepped into the world of BKFC (Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship), where he has honed his striking skills with a string of epic wins against many of the biggest names in martial arts.
Both Luke Rockhold and Eddie Alvarez were defeated by the 32-year-old Paul's ferocious athleticism, and the MMA world is hopeful that the same fate may befall him.

However, Perry almost opted for a completely different bout when he considered the possibility of the popular fighter facing Dillon Danis inside the cage.
The fight between the striker and the grappler would undoubtedly have attracted the attention of the general public.
They were known for their unconventional personalities and willingness to get into heated arguments, and the press conference alone would have been worth watching.
Perry told MMA Fighting: “It's interesting. I was still looking at the Dillon Danis fight. We all saw how he performed in boxing so I thought it wasn't going to be a boxing match. I don't want to make excuses.”
He later revealed the specific tactics he would employ if he had the opportunity to fight a jiu-jitsu practitioner.
The 32-year-old explained: “I was going to drive knees into his face and attack with elbows. If he gave up on his back, I would have gone for the choke. Why not? I've never been submitted before. I love hitting people. I have very good mixed martial arts skills. Those skills might be something I'll carry with me until I die.”
Either way, that fight has been put on the back burner, at least for the time being, as Perry is 100% focused on the man in front of him.
Mike Perry warns Jake Paul ahead of blockbuster clash
Though significantly smaller than his rival, Perry will undoubtedly pose the toughest test of Paul's career since Tommy Fury.
The YouTuber is significantly younger than some of the mixed martial artists he's shared the ring with and blessed with an incredible engine, and the hand-to-hand combat icon believes he has what it takes to push his nemesis to the darkest place possible.
He may not have the finishing power of Anderson Silva, but this natural fighter has an incredible fighting spirit to keep going no matter what happens.
He's taken some hard punches during his time with BKFC, but even a clean thunderbolt to the chin didn't put him to sleep.
So while Paul certainly holds formidable power in his right hand, Perry is far from being intimidated, and recently issued a stern warning to his opponents.
