“Unfortunately, my son DeAndre took his own life on Saturday,” Jones Jr. wrote.
“We are so grateful that God allowed us to come home on Friday night and spend the last night of his life with our family.
“I know a lot of people are going through difficult times right now, but nothing is worth taking your own life.
“God giveth it, and God must take it away.”
“Please respect our privacy as my family and I navigate this loss.
“Thank you so much for the love and support.”
DeAndre was just days away from his 32nd birthday.
Police are yet to confirm details surrounding his death.
Jones has been a world champion in four different weight classes: middleweight, super middleweight, light heavyweight and heavyweight.
He famously returned to the ring in an exhibition bout against Mike Tyson in 2020 before making his pro return in 2023 against UFC standout Anthony Pettis.
