RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — A Richmond man has earned a spot on the U.S. Swimming Olympic Team and will compete in the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris.
Charlie Swanson, 26, Richmondteeth, 100 Meter Breaststroke She qualified at the U.S. Olympic Team Trials held in Indianapolis, Indiana, and will compete in the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris.
Swanson graduated from the University of Michigan in 2020. Majoring in Economics with a minor in EntrepreneurshipPrior to attending college, he attended St. Christopher's School in Richmond, graduating in 2016.
During his time at Michigan, Swanson earned numerous awards and honorable mentions, including being named All-American four times in 2020.
Throughout her athletic career, Swanson was a member of many local swimming clubs, including the Richmond Racers, Poseidon Swimming and NOVA, Virginia Aquatics, which she still represents today.
He played in the NCAA Championships all four years while at the University of Michigan.
Swanson will come to the Olympics with multiple world championship appearances, including most recently in 2022 in the 200m breaststroke.
The Paris 2024 Olympic Games will begin on Friday 26 July and run until Sunday 11 August.
