Damon Stoudemire acquired a potentially impactful transfer late Friday night.
Just when it seemed Georgia Tech was done adding players to their team through the transfer portal, the Yellow Jackets have added an experienced 6'8″ forward. Duncan Powell, who played last season at Sacramento State and was previously at N.C. A&T, committed to the Yellow Jackets tonight.
Powell brings size and experience to the frontcourt. He appeared in 29 games last season, including 23 starts, averaging over 12 points and seven rebounds per game.
Stoudemire has proven to be a very capable recruiter during his time at Georgia Tech, as he compiled a recruiting class rated as the 14th best in the nation with high school prospects Cole Kirouac, a 6'11″ center from Cumming, Georgia who attended Brewster Academy in Wolfeboro, New Hampshire; Jaeden Mustafe, a 6'4″ guard from Bowie, Maryland who also attended Overtime Elite; Dorian Onwuchekwa, a 6'11″ center from DeSoto, Texas who attended Faith Family Academy in Oak Cliff; and Darrion Sutton, a 6'8″ forward from St. Louis, Missouri who attends Overtime Elite in Atlanta. He also added three impactful transfers to strengthen the team this season in Oklahoma guard Javian McCollum, Colorado forward Luke O'Brien and Georgetown University center transfer Ryan Mutombo, all of whom are committed for the 2024-2025 season.
