Colorado College Hockey freshman goaltender Carsen Musser has been invited to the 2024 World Junior Summer Showcase.
Musser, who is set to join the Tigers this fall, is one of 46 players invited by the United States Hockey Association to participate in the event, which will be held July 26-Aug. 3 at USA Hockey Arena in Plymouth, Mich., CC announced Thursday.
He will be among players from the United States, Canada, Finland and Sweden competing for a chance to represent their countries at the International Ice Hockey Federation World Junior Championships, taking place in late December and early January.
“It's a tremendous honor to be recognized by the nation as one of the top players of his year and to be selected to compete in the U-20 World Junior Championships,” Colorado State head coach Chris Mayotte said in a statement. “We are very proud that Carsen has been invited to the camp, where he will gain some additional experience before joining the team in the fall.”
Musser was a member of the U.S. National Developmental U-17 and U-18 teams that won gold at last year's 2023 IIHF Under-18 World Championship.
He was selected in the sixth round of the 2023 NHL Draft by the then Arizona Coyotes (now the Utah Hockey Club). Last season, he recorded a .905 save percentage, second in the league, with the Madison Capitols of the USHL. He was fourth in the USHL with a goals-against average of 2.74 and compiled a record of 17 wins, 11 losses and two draws.
CC goalkeeper Kaidan Mbeleko and center Noah Laba were members of the U.S. Junior National Team in 2023. Mbeleko was also on the 2022 squad.
