Hunter Rogers of the University of South Carolina Gamecocks has been named a preseason college football All-American.
The South Carolina Gamecocks football program hasn't been getting much attention this offseason, in large part due to players Spencer Rattler and Xavier Leggett both being in the NFL — two huge factors on the Gamecocks' offense last season — but the Gamecocks haven't been completely ignored in the latest All-American list.
Long snapper Hunter Rogers was on Phil Steele's preseason All-American list for 2024, but otherwise no other Gamecocks players made the list among the four offensive, defensive and special teams teams teams.
South Carolina certainly has a ton of players who could have an All-American worthy season. One name that comes to mind is running back Raheim Sanders. He transferred from Arkansas last season and will be the Gamecocks' leader this fall. Though he only played in six games in 2023, he rushed for 1,443 yards, had 12 total touchdowns and averaged 6.5 yards per carry on 222 carries in 2022. With LaNoris Sellers entering his first season as a quarterback in the SEC, he will likely be the player South Carolina counts on this season.
Safety Nick Emanwoli also likely deserves some praise, having been named to the All-American list as a freshman in 2022. Now entering his junior season, Emanwoli is one of the most experienced veterans in the Gamecocks secondary, and he will need big plays if South Carolina is to improve on last season's showing.
