The Florida Simulation Summit, themed “Transforming Healthcare with Intelligence Technology,” recently took place in Orange County. Visionary leaders, pioneering researchers and innovative practitioners gathered in Orlando to explore transformative healthcare and technology using modeling, simulation and artificial intelligence.
“This year's theme reflects how modeling, simulation and AI are becoming increasingly important in improving patient outcomes and advancing cutting-edge technology in healthcare,” said Orange County Mayor Jerry L. Demings. “By working with our partners, we aim to share best practices and foster further innovation that improves patient care across our region.”
Includes keynote speeches Leading the Change: How to Inspire Curiosity and Joy in the Healthcare AI Transformation Presentation by Rob Purinton, vice president of analytics and performance improvement at AdventHealth. Improving patient and provider outcomes through simulation, training and educationPresented by Jude Tomasello, program manager for medical simulation and training at the Defense Health Agency.
The summit also featured engaging panel discussions on topics related to predictive intelligence for pandemic prevention, behavioral health and cognitive skills, sports medicine and human experience, and the impact of artificial intelligence in transforming the tri-county region.
“Healthcare is always a critical issue, and so is the training that health care professionals receive,” said George Cheros, president and CEO of the National Simulation Center. “This summit is critical for those in the local modeling and simulation field who want to stay up to date on the latest in medical simulation technology, whether for civilian or military use.”
Now in its ninth year, the summit seeks to highlight the significant advancements, synergies and developments in Central Florida's multi-billion dollar modeling, simulation and training (MS&T) industry. The region has positioned itself as a hub of innovation and excellence, with UCF's Central Florida Research Park's $6 billion MS&T industry not only strengthening the nation's defense, but also transforming life sciences, healthcare, sports, space, gaming and engineering.
“Its impact goes beyond financial statistics, serving as a catalyst for technological advances and fostering collaboration between academia, government and the private sector,” Mayor Demings asserted. “By coming together in forums such as this, we reaffirm our shared commitment to building the future of health care as a reality, not just a goal, and charting a path to a healthier, more equitable tomorrow.”
Orange County Government partnered with Seminole and Osceola counties and the National Simulation Center to promote the 2024 Florida Simulation Summit.
