Schenectady, New York – Head Coach Josh Hauge On Tuesday afternoon, the Union University men's hockey team released its schedule for the 2024-25 season.
“I'm really excited about the schedule I have put together for my final season at Messa Rink,” Hauge said. “We have some great teams coming to Schenectady and we have some tough away opponents. I can't wait to get back on the ice with my team this fall.”
The schedule consists of 34 games against seven non-conference opponents and the other 11 members of ECAC hockey.
The 2024-25 schedule will open with an exhibition game at home against Providence on Oct. 4. The Garnet Chargers will host Army West Point on Sunday, Oct. 5 for their first regular season game.
Union heads east next weekend with a trip to Stonehill on Oct. 11 before taking on 2024 Frozen Four contender Boston University on Saturday at Agganis Arena.
The team, wearing garnet and white uniforms, will host Mercyhurst for the first time since 2004 in a two-game series at Messa Rink starting on October 18.
To kick off November play, Alaska Fairbanks will come to Schenectady for the first ever matchup between the two teams. The first game against the Nanooks is scheduled for November 8th.
The Union will travel to Niagara Falls over Thanksgiving weekend for a two-game series against Niagara on Nov. 29th and 30th.
Vermont comes to town on Dec. 13 and 14 for the final games before winter break.
The annual Mayor's Cup game against Rensselaer College will conclude the non-conference schedule at MVP Arena in Albany on Jan. 25. Union has won the past three Mayor's Cup matches against the College of Engineers.
The Union will open ECAC hockey play with a home-and-home series against RPI on Oct. 25th and 26th, before hosting St. Lawrence and Clarkson on Nov. 15th and 16th.
The Garnet Chargers will kick off December with trips to Princeton and Quinnipiac on Dec. 6 and 7 to play in their final ECAC hockey contests of the calendar year.
Looking ahead to 2025, the Union will play its first four games of the year on the road, starting with matches against Brown and Yale on Jan. 3 and 4 before traveling to the North Country to take on Clarkson and St. Lawrence on Jan. 10 and 11.
The Union will play its next four ECAC hockey games at home against Dartmouth College and Harvard University on Jan. 17th and 18th, before hosting Yale University and Brown University on Jan. 31st and Feb. 1st.
In the final month of the regular season, Union will visit Colgate and Cornell before hosting Quinnipiac and Princeton on Feb. 14 and 15.
In its final regular season trip, the Union will visit Harvard and Dartmouth on Feb. 21 and 22.
Union will face Cornell University on Feb. 26 and close out the regular season against Colgate University on March 1.
