The Swedish Mixed Martial Arts Federation (SMMAF) has been confirmed as a member of the World Mixed Martial Arts Association (GAMMA) following approval by the GAMMA board on Thursday.
Founded in March 2007, SMMAF is one of the oldest mixed martial arts national federations in Europe. It is mandated by the Swedish government to regulate and sanction both amateur and professional mixed martial arts. Its president, August Wallen, is recognized as the founder of the international amateur mixed martial arts movement.
Warren explained SMMAF’s reasons for joining GAMMA: “We are excited to join GAMMA.
“We are looking forward to working with GAMMA, an athlete-focused organization that reflects SMMAF's priorities. As an organization that seeks the best competition opportunities and conditions for all, SMMAF is impressed with the level of support provided by GAMMA and we look forward to sending a large team to the GAMMA World Championships in Indonesia in December. We are confident that becoming a member will be beneficial for the entire Swedish community.”
SMMAF will be 76Number As a member of GAMMA, it joins 21 other European members. Renowned for its high-caliber national team, which has won international medals and produced top-class athletes, SMMAF will certainly contribute to GAMMA’s competitiveness at European and World Championships.
