The Pittsburgh Penguins will take part in a preseason game as part of the NHL's Kraft Hockeyville promotion.
The Penguins will travel to Elliot Lake, Ontario to take on the Ottawa Senators on September 29th.
“I grew up in Northern Ontario and understand how meaningful this event is to the people of Elliot Lake and the surrounding areas,” Penguins president of hockey operations and general manager Kyle Dubas said in a press release.
“Our investment in Elliot Lake and the game itself represents a fantastic opportunity for the Penguins to contribute to the growth of the sport in a part of the world that loves ice hockey so much.”
This will be the Penguins’ third time participating in the Kraft Hockeyville Game: They competed in the inaugural Kraft Hockeyville USA Game in 2015 at Cambria War Memorial in Johnstown and in 2017 represented the Rostraver Ice Gardens in a game at UPMC Lemieux Sports Complex.
As part of the promotion, Elliot Lake will receive $250,000 from the NHLPA's Goals & Dreams Fund towards arena renovations and $10,000 worth of youth hockey equipment.
Further details regarding the September 29th match, including the exact venue, time and broadcast information, will be announced at a later date.
The Penguins' complete preseason and season schedules have yet to be announced.
