The Paris Olympics are arguably the biggest upcoming event for amateur wrestling, but not all of the nation's stars are keen to follow the trend. NLWC member Jason Nolf seems to be looking to step out from the shadow of Penn State and Cale Sanderson to establish himself. Now, with everything going well in his first Brazilian Jiu Jitsu bout, Nolf seems set to delve deeper into the world of MMA.
Earlier this year, Nolf was named USA Wrestler of the Week after a spectacular performance at the Zagreb Grand Prix, but after losing to Kyle Dake at the US Olympic Team Trials, Nolf may be looking elsewhere for now.
Nolf hinted at some exciting things to come in a recent Instagram post: After his win over Andrew Symons last Sunday, Nolf has committed to competing in the Craig Jones Invitational in August. It's official! I'll be competing at @cjiofficial in Las Vegas in August to compete for $1,000,000 in prize money!” the NLWC wrestler wrote in his Instagram post.
The CJI said:The highest prize money in grappling history!” According to his official social media handle, this financial compensation may have inspired Nolf to pursue his dreams in mixed martial arts.”That is life-changing money!“Three NCAA gold medalists have confessed that.”
