Floyd Mayweather claims that the Gervonta Davis vs. Frank Martin fight has been called off. Tank's former mentor recently posted about the highly-anticipated bout, but fans are still left in the dark.
The owner of Mayweather Promotions, who also manages Gervonta Davis, confirmed the fight has been cancelled, while Tank claims the rumors are false. What's the truth?
Floyd Mayweather says Gervonta Davis vs. Frank Martin fight should be canceled
Lightweight boxer Gervonta Davis is scheduled to face Frank Martin in his next bout, a challenge that could be a stepping stone for Tank to bigger challenges that await him in his career.
Even before the match, the rivalry between the two players has captivated fans, and the match is said to be one of the most exciting in 2024.
However, fans were recently shocked by the possibility of the fight being cancelled, after Floyd Mayweather recently posted a message advocating for the fight to be cancelled, which was quickly refuted by Gervonta Davis himself.
During a recent press conference, Davis accused Errol of “coming for the check.” Truth quickly fired back at Tank. “Shut up,” Spence replied. The former welterweight champion accused the 29-year-old Errol of “talking too much.”
Gervonta Davis also mocked Spence, referencing the Derrick James controversy. Errol's former trainer has filed a lawsuit against the welterweight challenger seeking up to $5 million in damages.
James claims Errol's team owes him money for training Spence before he fights Terence Crawford, and Tank reflected on this during a recent press conference, when Davis asked The Truth about his former trainer's presence.
In what may not seem like an intense feud, Davis and Spence are on opposing sides of the fence, with Gervonta predicting an early knockout in his upcoming bout with Frank Martin at the infamous MGM Arena.
