There will be plenty of Tennessee flavor in the air at the 2024 U.S. Olympic Swimming Trials, which begin Saturday at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis and run through June 23.
Harpeth Hall High School will have five swimmers participating, including 2020 Tokyo Olympic silver medalist Alex Walsh. She and her sister, Gretchen Walsh, are the local swimmers most likely to qualify for the 2024 Paris Olympics, which will be held from July 26 to Aug. 11.
Gretchen qualified second in the 100 butterfly, third in the 50 freestyle, and fourth in the 100 freestyle. Alex qualified second in the 200 individual medley, seventh in the 100 breaststroke, and fifth in the 200 breaststroke.
The top two athletes in each event will be selected for the U.S. Olympic Team.
Also participating from Harpeth Hall will be Ella Nelson, Alex Massey and Maggie Petty.
