STURGIS — Sturgis Martial Arts Academy continues to have talented students.
A few weeks ago, the Academy saw several dedicated students reach a major milestone in their martial arts journey. Five of the Academy's students achieved the title of black belt.
“Earning a black belt is a testament to these individuals' hard work, dedication and perseverance,” said Brett Hamlin, instructor and co-owner of Sturgis Martial Arts Academy. “We are very proud of their accomplishments and look forward to seeing what the future holds for them.”

Two of the students are enrolled in the adult program. Dillon Green and Richard Levitz both received their black belts in mid-May. Through years of rigorous training and unwavering determination, they have mastered the technical aspects of their chosen martial arts and have demonstrated exceptional discipline and perseverance.
Earning their junior black belts were Taylor Krupinski, Kyle Heiszka and Kevin Heiszka. These young athletes have demonstrated incredible talent, dedication and a strong work ethic, paving the way for continued success in the martial arts world.
Attaining the honor of a black belt takes years of training and dedication, and the five's progress was measured through a series of four assessments that tested both physical ability and technical knowledge. These assessments focus on core skills such as strength, ability and endurance, and ultimately demonstrating these techniques throughout each individual's training program.
Sturgis Academy of Martial Arts is committed to creating a positive, supportive environment where students can develop physical and mental wellness through martial arts training. Serving the Sturgis area since 2015, the school offers programs for all ages and skill levels with an emphasis on self-defense, discipline, respect and goal setting.
