MANILA, Philippines — Filipino martial artist Kali is the star of the international show “Marvel Universe Live!,” running until June 16 at the SM Mall of Asia Arena.
The Philippines will be the Asian debut of the show, produced by Feld Entertainment, the same company behind the annual hit “Disney on Ice.”

According to cast members, the show will feature several martial arts including boxing, Kali and Taekwondo, including somersault moves often seen on Black Panther and Spider-Man.
They trained under Kali practitioners in the Philippines, he said.
Kali, also known as Arnis, Eskrima or Escrima, is a form of weapon-based or open-handed martial art, usually using improvised weapons such as sticks or knives.
Kali has gained international recognition and widespread popularity in international films, television series and video games, from Bruce Lee's “Game of Death” and “Enter the Dragon” in the 70s, to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, James Bond films and “Tekken.”

In “Marvel Universe Live!,” Kali is primarily played by one of the show's main villains, Nebula. Nebula is one of more than 20 popular Marvel superheroes and villains who will appear in the show, which will bring epic battles from the Marvel Universe to life. The show will run until June 16 at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.
