French Open winner Carlos Alcaraz and Rafael Nadal have been selected for Spain's team for the 2024 Olympic Games, the Spanish Tennis Federation (RFET) announced on Wednesday.
Alcaraz, ranked second in the world, won his first Roland Garros title last weekend on the clay courts of Paris. The Olympic tournament runs from July 27 to August 4 in Paris.
Nadal, a winner of 22 Grand Slam titles including a record 14 at Roland Garros, only returned to competition last April after missing the best part of 16 months with injury and is currently ranked 264th in the world.
In addition to the singles competition, Alcaraz, 21, and Nadal, 38, could potentially compete in the doubles event at the tournament.
The Spanish men's team is made up of Alejandro Davidovich Fokina, ranked 32nd in the world, Pablo Carreno Busta and world number two-ranked doubles player Marcel Granollers.
