Zach Reese vows to never take part in a boring fight.
Reese (7-1 MMA, 1-1 UFC) earned his first victory inside the Octagon last Saturday night, knocking out Julian Marquez (9-5 MMA, 3-5 UFC) in just 20 seconds at UFC on ESPN 57 inside the KFC Yum Center in Louisville, Kentucky.
All six of Reese's victories have come in the first round, and the Dana White Contender Series alumnus will be looking to thrill fans with yet another explosive finish.
“I hope the fans can relate to my style because I grew up a fan and I don't like boring fighters,” Rees told UFC News. “I'm never going to be a boring fighter. I'd die before I have a boring fight. My plan was to be a little more patient with Julian, drag him out, fake him out and then crush him. And that's what happened.”
Reese was knocked out by a slam from Cody Brundage in his UFC debut in December and was at a disadvantage on highlight reel footage, but the 30-year-old was happy to bounce back against Marquez and show what he's really made of.
“I'm not going to make any excuses for my debut. I got hurt the last month of camp and wasn't able to train at all the last month of camp,” Reese said. “I still went into the match thinking I could win with my skills, but I didn't. So it meant a lot to me to come here and show what a healthy Zach Reese can do.”
