Can the Oregon Ducks football team remain undefeated in the 2024 college football season? Now that they've joined the Big Ten Conference, the Ducks face the challenge of adapting to a new conference, facing teams such as the Ohio State Buckeyes, Michigan Wolverines and Wisconsin Badgers.
According to FPI's analysis, the Ducks are the favorites to win it all, with a 15.7% chance that they will win every game in 2024. Interestingly, Michigan, which went 13-0 last season, is not in the top 10 teams most likely to finish undefeated.
The only team with a better chance of winning than Oregon is the Notre Dame Fishing Irish, who have a 15.8 percent chance of winning.
In the Big Ten Conference, Ohio State has a 7.5% chance of going undefeated, while Penn State has a 7.1% chance.
Oregon's 2024 schedule looks set to go as planned, with the Ducks hosting the Buckeyes in Eugene and not playing Penn State. The Ducks have away games against Michigan and Wisconsin coming up.
The Ducks' transfer class features 14 highly-touted players, making it the best in the Big Ten Conference and hard to match.
Oregon's transfers include quarterback Dillon Gabriel from Oklahoma, former five-star receiver Evan Stewart from Texas A&M and cornerback Jabbar Muhammad, who helped Washington win the Pac-12 Conference title last year and reach the College Football Playoff finals. They also landed a talented quarterback in former five-star recruit Dante Moore from UCLA.
The Ducks have as good a chance as any to be the best team in college football in 2024. They have speed and size up front that will be a nightmare for opposing teams.
In an exclusive interview with University of Oregon wide receiver Tez Johnson, the senior revealed that coach Dan Lanning's practices are as competitive as a “national championship game.”
“It's very competitive,” Johnson told Oregon Sports Illustrated's Bri Amaranthes. “It's so intense you wonder who you're playing in the national championship game.”
Practice makes perfect…maybe literally.
