The main event will see two of the best fighters in the welterweight division take on Gilbert Burns and Shawn Brady.
Burns (22-7 MMA, 15-7 UFC) and Brady (16-1 MMA, 6-1 UFC) have verbally agreed to compete in a five-round bout at UFC Fight Night on Sept. 7. The location for the event has yet to be determined.
Two people familiar with the fight confirmed to MMA Junkie that both sides have agreed to the bout but that the fight contract has not yet been executed. The people asked not to be identified because the promotion has not yet made an official announcement.
X-user @MagicM_MMABets first reported the pairing of the 37-year-old Barnes with the 31-year-old Brady.
Burns, ranked No. 8 in the latest USA Today Sports/MMA Junkie welterweight rankings, will be looking to end a two-fight losing streak against Belal Muhammad and Jack Della Maddalena and earn his first win since beating Jorge Masvidal at UFC 287 in April 2023.
He'll have to fend off Brady, who is rising to No. 10 in the rankings, having lost only once to Muhammad and is fresh off a dominant submission win over Kelvin Gastelum at UFC on ESPN 52 in December.
The updated lineup for UFC Fight Night on September 7th is as follows:
- Gilbert Burns vs. Shawn Brady
- Calvin Kattar vs. Kyle Nelson
