Minneapolis — This fall, Gopher football players will be wearing new uniforms for the first time in six seasons.
The new uniforms feature the traditional gold and maroon colors, as well as a white jersey for away games. The university last unveiled new uniforms in 2018.
Changes include the addition of stripes on the shoulders and sides of the pants, and the maroon jerseys will have gold numbers instead of the previous version's white.
The Minnesota state symbol will appear on the outside collar of all jerseys, the words “Ski-U-Mah” will appear on the inside collar of the jerseys, and the university's symbol, an “M,” will appear on the front of the uniforms.
According to the university, the new uniforms are stronger, lighter and more breathable than traditional uniforms.
On Thursday, the Vikings “Winter Warrior” Uniform For the first time in franchise history, the uniforms will feature white helmets and will be worn on Monday Night Football against the Chicago Bears on December 16.
The Gophers' first game will be Aug. 29 at home against North Carolina.
