The perennial UFC contender will be looking for a much-needed win against an up-and-coming Canadian fighter looking to win in the most high-profile fight of his life to date.
Calvin Kattar and Kyle Nelson are scheduled to compete in a three-round bout at the UFC Fight Night event on September 7. The location of the event is currently unknown.
Two people with knowledge of the fight recently informed MMA Junkie about it but requested anonymity because the promotion has yet to make an official announcement.
The New England Cartel's Kattar (23-8 MMA, 7-6 UFC) is looking to end a three-fight losing streak. Kattar most recently competed at UFC 300, where he lost a unanimous decision to Aljamain Sterling in a hard-fought wrestling match. This bout marked Kattar's first fight since suffering a knee injury during a bout with Arnold Allen in October 2022, which required surgery.
Nelson (16-5-1 MMA, 4-4-1 UFC), of the House of Champions MMA, started 1-4-1 at UFC but has since won three straight fights. After decision wins over Blake Bilders and Fernando Padilla, Nelson knocked out Bill Algeo with strikes in the first round in March for his most dominant UFC win to date.
The current lineup for UFC Fight Night on September 7 is as follows:
- Calvin Kattar vs. Kyle Nelson
