2024 Israel Olympic Qualifiers
The 2024 Israel Olympic Trials kicked off this week, with swimming competitions getting underway at Wingate Institute on Wednesday.
Six Israeli swimmers have already achieved Olympic qualifying times in international competition, including: Anastasia Golubenko and Tomer FrankelBut for the remaining teams, this tournament will be their last chance to get their name on the Paris national team roster.
Qualifiers
- Anastasia Golubenko – Women's 200m/400m Individual Medley, 100m/200m Backstroke
- Tomer Frankel – Men's 100m Butterfly, 100m Freestyle
- Denis Loktev – Men's 200m Freestyle
- Gal Koen Gromi – Men's 100m Butterfly
- Martin Kartavi – Men's 50m Freestyle
- Milon Harti – Men's 50m Freestyle
He is 22 years old. Aviv Barzelay She set a new personal best in the women's 200m backstroke on her way to Olympic qualification.
The Texas A&M graduate qualified in 2:09.63, his first time under the 2:10 barrier and breaking his previous personal best of 2:10.42 set at the 2022 World Championships.
Barzelay's time also fell short of the 2 minutes 10.39 seconds required to qualify for the World Aquatics Championships Olympic Games and join Golubenko on the national team.
20-year-old Adam Maraana He swam the best race of his life, winning the men's 100m backstroke.
Maraana finished in 53.60 seconds, equalling the Israeli national record set by Jacob Jan Tumarkin in 2017.
Maraana added time in the final to ultimately win the gold medal in 53.97, but had cleared the OQT of 53.74 in the morning swim to qualify for the Paris Games.

- David Greczyk He just missed the qualifying times in the 200 backstroke, clocking a 1:57.53 in the heats and a 1:57.60 in the final, both just shy of the 1:57.50 needed for Paris.
- Men's 100m freestyle Daniel Namir He won the gold medal with a score of 49.64, followed by Yoav Romano He won the silver medal in 49.77 seconds. Alexei Grivinsky He finished on the podium with a time of 49.81.
- Olympian Andrea Mourez She topped the podium in the women's 100m freestyle with a time of 54.96 seconds. Leah Polonsky I was next to the wall at 55.62 Shane Golland He won the bronze medal with a score of 56.25.
- He missed out on qualifying for the Olympics Bar Soloveitchik Soloveitchik set a new national record en route to winning the men's 400-meter freestyle. He clocked a winning time of 3 minutes 47.32 seconds, beating his personal best and Israeli record of 3 minutes 48.55 seconds, which he set last year.
