Boys Southeast Whitfield 2, Northwest Whitfield 1
Southeast Whitfield (5-4) defeated rival Northwest Whitfield (3-5-3) 2-1 on Tuesday night.
With 26:26 left in the first half, Joseph Pina turned the ball and headed it home, giving the Raiders the lead and keeping the score at 1-0 until halftime.
In the second, Northwest and Southeast traded goals, but Southeast won 2-1.
For the Southeast, Jairo Garcia scored a second-half goal, while for the Northwest, Anthony Rodriguez scored off an assist from Chris Tapia.
Northwest will look to rebound from a two-game losing streak Friday when the Bruins host Harrison at 7:30 p.m.
Southeast is currently on a five-game winning streak after starting 0-4 with tough competition and several injuries.The Raiders play at Ringgold's Heritage Friday at 7 p.m.
Dalton 3, Coafura Creek 0
Dalton (7-3-1) scored three second-half goals to defeat Coahula Creek (6-4-1) 3-0 on Tuesday in the battle for the defending state champions in Whitfield County. .
Defending Class 3A champion Coahula Creek faced 5A champion Dalton in a scoreless first half tie, but the Catamounts scored three goals and overcame the Colts.
Angel Salais scored Dalton's first goal, followed by Ivan Rodriguez to make it 2-0.
Salais scored the winning goal off an assist from Rubén Góngora.
Dalton will play area opponent Woodland on Friday at 7:30 p.m., and Creek will play Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe Thursday at 7 p.m.
Dalton Academy 10, Dade County 0
Dalton Academy (9-1) shut out Region 7-A DI opponent Dade County (2-5) 10-0 on Tuesday.
Andy Reynoso scored four goals and TDA's Joe Gonzalez also had a hat trick with three goals. Dani Pele, Roani Ramirez and Rocael Aguilar each scored a goal. Gonzalez had three goals and three assists. Perez had two assists, and Giovani Nolasco, Derrick Ulloa, Jesus Arellano and Eduardo Vazquez each had an assist.
The Pumas will be looking to make it nine straight wins when Dalton Academy plays Armuchee on Friday at 7:30 p.m.
Christian Heritage 4, Mount Zion 2
On Tuesday night, Christian Heritage (3-4) defeated Mount Zion (3-3) 4-2 behind three goals from Carson Russell.
Jose Ojeda assisted on Russell's two goals and scored the Lion's fourth goal himself.
The Lions play at Ridgeland Thursday at 7 p.m.
Fannin County 4, North Murray 0
On Tuesday, North Murray (3-5) lost 4-0 to Fannin County (5-3).
The Mountaineers will host Modell on Friday night at 7 p.m.
Girls' School: North West Whitfield 4, South East Whitfield 1
Northwest Whitfield (7-2-1) suffered its first loss of the season to Southeast Whitfield (6-1) on Tuesday night, defeating its rival 4-1.
Northwest led 1-0 at halftime, scored a goal early in the second half and added two more to make it 4-0. Sadie Clark scored a goal in the first half and added another point early in the second half. With 22 minutes remaining, Jazmin Cortez chipped a ball over the Southeast keeper for the Lady Bruins' third goal. With 4:58 remaining, Yuri Ereda scored Northwest's final goal.
Clark and Hereda each had an assist.
Karen Garcia scored for Southeast with three minutes left to put the Lady Raiders ahead.
Southeast will play at Ringgold Heritage on Friday at 5 p.m., and Northwest will host Harrison on Friday at 5:30 p.m.
Christian Heritage 1, Mount Zion 0
Christian Heritage (2-4) defeated Mount Zion (2-4) 1-0 on a penalty kick by Andy Bolger on Tuesday night.
The Lady Lions play at Ridgeland Thursday at 5 p.m.
Fannin County 8, North Murray 1
North Murray (3-4) dropped Tuesday's game against Fannin County (4-4) 8-1.
North Murray will host Model on Friday at 5 p.m.
