WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (AP) – Myles Kelly had 19 points, Bai Ndongo hit the game-winning shot with 0.4 seconds left and Georgia Tech held off Wake Forest for a 70-69 win on Tuesday night.
Ndongo caught the inbounds pass with a left 3.8, drove to the basket and took a high arching shot from the right side of the lane. Wake Forest came back as time expired and suffered its first loss at home this season.
Georgia Tech (14-16, 7-12 ACC) avenged an 80-51 home loss to Wake Forest on Feb. 6 and has won four of its last five games and three straight.
Kelly made 7 of 11 shots and helped Georgia Tech make 5 of 10 3-pointers. Nathan George had 16 points, Tafala Ngapare had 11 points and Ndongo had nine points and 11 rebounds.
Hunter Sallis scored 22 points to lead Wake Forest (18-12, 10-9), which has lost three straight and five of its last seven games. Cameron Hildreth added 17 points, Kevin Miller added 12 points and Efton Reed III added 11 points.
Georgia Tech opened 21-4. Kelly made four 3-pointers and scored 12 points, and George added 10 points as the Yellow Jackets built a 40-26 lead at halftime. The Yellow Jackets shot 57% overall (16-of-28) in the first half, with four other players hitting 3s each.
Hildreth scored 11 points during a 15-4 run that pulled Wake Forest within 52-51 with 9:11 left. Georgia Tech increased its lead to 68-60 with 2:12 left, but Reed's 3-pointer followed by Miller's 4-pointer made it 68-67 with 37 seconds left.
Wake Forest took its only lead at 69-68 on Sallis' jumper with 18 seconds left.
Georgia Tech will travel to Virginia, and Wake Forest will host Clemson in Saturday's final regular season game.
