Charles 'CJ' Bell is scheduled to take an official visit to Rutgers football this May, and the Connecticut standout is citing a strong recruiting push by the Big Ten program.
Bell, a 6-foot-1, 160-pound defensive back from St. Thomas More (Oakdale, Conn.), is Connecticut's eighth recruit in the 2025 class. He has offers from Boston College, Maryland, Notre Dame, Penn State, Rutgers, and several other programs.
Rutgers' current football recruiting class consists of three members, including four-star linebacker Taribi Kaba.
Bell said his visit to Rutgers University will begin on May 31st and he will also visit Minnesota on June 14th.
“They show the most love and loyalty, and that means a lot in my recruitment,” Bell told Rutgers Wire on Monday.
In October, Bell took an unofficial visit to Rutgers University for a game against Michigan State. This game was a huge moment in the Scarlet Knights' season, as Rutgers pulled off an epic come-from-behind victory over their Big Ten rival.
Rutgers finished the season 7-6 with a win over Miami in the Pinstripe Bowl while playing the second-toughest schedule in college football.
“Greg Schiano's return is great for Rutgers,” Bell said after his October visit. “I’m from Boston, so I talked a lot with him about the Patriots and the McCourty brothers.”
