These days, Chris Paul and NBA referees go together like oil and vinegar.
The Warriors guard has a well-publicized history of feuds with referee Scott Foster, but Paul was recently panned by former referee Bill Spooner as one of the league's “biggest idiots.” When asked about Spooner's insults on “The Pat McAfee Show” on Wednesday, Paul responded in a way that only he can:
“There are probably many more [referees] “That’s how it is,” Paul told McAfee. “The umpire, I looked him up … he’s been in the league a long time, so you can probably guess who one of his buddies is.
“Maybe he was mad that I didn't put him in his last State Farm commercial.”

Of course, Paul implied that Spooner and Foster get along well, and judging by Spooner's assessment of Point God, who doesn't have a very good reputation among umpires, it's clear there's some disdain there.
“I’ll tell you, you’ve got me on tape and people ask me all the time: ‘Who’s the tough guy, the bad guy?’ And when I say Chris Paul is one of the biggest assholes I’ve ever met in my 32 years in the league, they say, ‘Isn’t that Rasheed Wallace? Da-da-da?’ No. [Paul]“They say, ‘Oh, he seems like a really nice guy,’ and I say, ‘Yeah, he’s a great image builder,’” Spooner told The Athletic’s Jason Quick.
It's a provocative statement, but Paul doesn't seem to mind.
