Fulton County, Georgia – An Alpharetta tech company is suing Fulton County Sheriff Pat Labatt for breach of contract, according to court documents.
Labatt is reportedly set to sign a contract with Talitrix on Jan. 20, 2023, to provide “critical electronic monitoring services” to the Fulton County Jail.
Talitrix says it has deployed its proprietary hardware and software at the North Fulton County Jail to track the locations of participating inmates and correctional officers and to monitor the heart rates of participating inmates.
FOX 5 Atlanta spoke with Sheriff Labatt and Talitrix in February about the wristbands.
“When we can harness technology, we can save lives,” Sheriff Labatt explained.
“We were able to track inmates every five seconds, take biometric measurements like heart rate and blood pressure, and on top of that, ensure they spent every hour of every day outside their cell,” said Talitrix CEO Justin Hawkins.

But Labatt and Fulton County “refused” to pay Talitrix for the work and equipment, according to the civil complaint.
Talitrix claims it is owed about $865,000.
FOX 5 Atlanta has reached out to Sheriff Labatt for comment on the lawsuit.
