Vertical Entertainment and Bren Foster will release the new martial arts thriller Life After Fighting in select theaters and On Demand beginning June 7. This marks Foster's feature debut as writer-director and his first collaboration with producer Navid Bahadoli under their newly formed production and distribution company Spinning Plates.
According to the official logline, “In Life After Fighting, former world mixed martial arts champion Alex Faulkner's (Foster) tranquil life is shattered when two young students from his martial arts school mysteriously disappear and a shocking revelation hits him square in the heart. When all avenues of hope seem lost, Faulkner's determination leads him to rescue imprisoned girls, uncover a sinister international child trafficking ring and ultimately the biggest fight of his life.”
Other cast members include Luke Ford (Animal Kingdom), Kathy Howarth (NCIS: Sydney), Annabelle Stevenson (Tidelands) and Jake Ryan (The Great Gatsby).
Producing under Spinning Plate's “high action, high drama” motto, Foster and Badri hope Life After Fighting will usher in “a new era of Australian film focusing on the martial arts genre”.
Foster is an accomplished martial artist with nine world championship titles and black belts in Taekwondo, Hapkido, Hwarang-do and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. His other projects include “Deep Blue 3”, “Alpha Chord”, “The Last Ship” and “The Osiris Chord”.
“Life After Fighting” will be Vertical Entertainment's eighth project of 2024. Vertical's other films this year include “The Listener,” “Parallel,” “Somewhere Quiet,” “Beautiful Wedding,” “Cold Copy,” “He Went That Way” and “The Bricklayer.”
