Kayla Harrison responds to Don Davis comparing her to Kevin Durant
In a recent live episode The Ariel Helwani ShowHarrison responded to Davis' comments about signing with UFC.
“Honestly, I'm living my best life,” Harrison responded. “I'm very proud of what I've built with PFL. I've been carrying that company for a long time and I have big shoulders, so I think I can handle it. I don't have time for that kind of bullshit. Every day I get up, I go to the gym, I train with people that I respect, admire and look up to. I'm chasing a dream. When I started in MMA, my goal wasn't to make a ton of money, it wasn't to be rich or famous, it was to be a UFC champion…
“That's why I'm here and that's what I want to do. If anyone has a problem with that, damn them.”
Harrison was then asked about the Cris Cyborg fight never happening in the PFL and Davis' comments about the matchup being overlooked.
“I tried to fight [Cris] “I'm going to challenge Cyborg again and again!” Harrison said. “I'm not going to bet my career on Cyborg saying yes. I don't need Cyborg anymore. I'm going to keep going, I'm going to be great, I'm going to win a UFC title. I'm going to seduce Amanda. [Nunes] Go back, bet Amanda I'll be the best ever!”
Harrison won the PFL women's lightweight championship in 2019 and 2021. Her only career loss was a unanimous decision loss to Larissa Pacheco for the 2022 PFL championship.
Harrison remains proud of her work with the PFL, and for good reason: Despite her respect for the league, there seems to be no love between her and the PFL's representatives.
