The NBA has announced the broadcast of the 2024 NBA Draft, presented by State Farm. For the first time in league history, the draft will be split over two days. The first round will take place at Barclays Center on June 26. The second round, which will likely feature Bronny James, will take place at ESPN's Seaport District studios in New York on June 27.
The Rockets enter the draft with one pick in each of the two rounds, with their top overall pick being No. 3 due to the trade that sent James Harden to the Brooklyn Nets in 2021. Houston's second-round pick will be No. 44.
“I think the top of this year’s draft is strong,” general manager Rafael Stone said in April. “I think last year’s draft was different than previous years because there was a lot of attention on one guy. [Wembanyama]and that hasn't been the case in the two previous drafts, and I don't think that will be the case this year.”
Unless Stone trades the pick for an existing star, the Rockets will have a chance to add another promising young player to their impressive young roster via the draft.
Houston acquired the No. 4 pick after missing out on Rookie of the Year Victor Wembanyama and selected Amen Thompson. This selection comes one year after the Rockets acquired the No. 3 pick in the 2022 NBA Draft to select Jabari Smith Jr.
Houston's highest pick came in the 2021 NBA Draft Lottery, where the team received the No. 2 pick and drafted Jalen Green.
