Among a long list of top prospects, including four-star center Malachi Moreno from Great Crossing High School in Kentucky who has received a UNC basketball offer in 2025, it is five-star guard Darin Peterson from Huntington Prep in West Virginia who is garnering the most attention at the Adidas Basketball EuroCamp in Treviso, Italy. He and Moreno are Event teammates I will be competing in the 3SSB Select Team.
The global talent showcase, which kicked off on Saturday and runs through Monday, will feature training sessions and matches between six teams, including several well-known NBA players such as James Harden and Ivica Zubac.
The 6-foot-5, 195-pound Peterson just turned 17 on Sunday and is an exciting playmaker ranked No. 3 overall in the 247Sports 2025 Composite and described by nbadraftpoint as having “his best performance so far at adidas Euro Camp in Team 3SSB's win over Team World.”
He finished with 29 points, eight rebounds and four assists, and was extremely efficient, hitting 12 of 17 field goals, 3 of 5 three-pointers and 2 of 3 free throws.
ESPN's Jonathan Wasserman was in attendance and summed up Darin Peterson's Grade A day:
“Darin Peterson was attacking with ease again today at Eurocamp. An incredibly polished scorer. Shoots with ease. Pulls up over defenders all day. Perfect control.”
Darin Peterson and Malachi Moreno, both current high school seniors, rank among 14 names on UNC basketball's 2025 wish list, including 10 five-star prospects, but it has yet to translate into recruiting make or break for Hubert Davis and his team. Tar Heels.
