Celtics' Joe Mazzulla 'confident' in Kristaps Porzingis' recovery ahead of NBA Finals

Al Horford and Joe Mazzulla talk about facing former Celtics star Kyrie Irving in the NBA Finals
JJ Redick appeared on NBCSports Boston and 98.5 The Sports Hub's “Felger and Mazz” radio show earlier this week, and judging by the performance, it doesn't look like he'll be reprising the role anytime soon.
His unhappiness with the appearance was apparently due to host Michael Felger's negative attitude toward the Celtics, who had the NBA's best regular season record and a 12-2 record in the postseason.
Boston sports radio has long been dominated by negativity, and Redick has generally spoken positively about NBA stars and teams in particular.
Following his appearance, Reddick asked The Ringer's Ryan Russillo a quick question on his podcast, “Old Man and the Three.”
“Maybe this was sparked by my radio appearance yesterday,” Redick said, referring to the “Felger & Maz” interview. “I feel like the Boston Celtics should be the favorites, the favorites to win. … My question is, would the people of Boston be happy if the Celtics won?”
Felger specifically argued on his radio show that because the Celtics are the strongest team on paper heading into the NBA Finals, they would have to be “on the losing end” or have other similar issues to lose.
“At this stage in basketball, I don't think you can lose on effort. I think it's stupid to talk about the NBA like that,” Redick said in response to Felger. “Boston has had a lot of success. It's hard to win championships. … When you get to this stage in the season, it feels like a chess match. It's not about who's working harder or who wants to win more.”
Redick has liked the Celtics all season and has publicly declared himself a big fan of Derrick White, but he also acknowledged that the Dallas Mavericks are a better isolation defensive team, even though much of the Celtics' offense is based around isolation plays.
Redick has made numerous podcast, TV and radio appearances since retiring from the NBA in 2021. After this week, he may have crossed “Felger and Maz” off the list for good.
