Fans will have to wait a little longer to see the fight between Jake Paul and Mike Tyson.
The bout was postponed due to a medical emergency on Tyson's part. After the announcement, Paul shared his thoughts on the platform “X,” formerly known as Twitter.
“Obviously it's heartbreaking news. It's heartbreaking,” Paul said. “I'm speechless, it's heartbreaking. We've worked so hard here.”
He went on to express his sadness for all those involved in the incident, including his training staff and the other fighters.
“I feel bad for everyone involved in this event,” Paul said. “This whole opening act, this whole opportunity has been taken away from us.”
But he acknowledged that he wanted Tyson to be in better shape and that his rival still badmouths him despite his poor health.
“I care about Mike's health first and foremost,” Paul said. “I love Mike and have a lot of respect for him. I want Mike to stay healthy. He still says he's going to knock me out and I'm buying myself time.”
The bout will be one to watch, especially considering the age difference between the two opponents: the 27-year-old Paul was set to face the 57-year-old Tyson, whose track record in the ring makes him well suited to the challenge.
Tyson is a former world champion with a career record of 50 wins, 6 losses and 2 draws in the ring. Paul has had some success with a 9-1 record, but facing Tyson even in a casual setting like this would be a real test.
