The outstanding female boxers were selected from various boxing clubs that were participating in the first Yucateco Boxing League, which was concluded in February 2024.
One of the highlights of the event was the show of mettle between Aishat Gbadamosi and Shakirat Kareem, a reenactment of their challenge in Ibadan during Season 1 of the Yucateco Boxing League.

Despite losing to her opponent, Aishat, who is dreaming of bigger opportunities, believes the all-women's championship has exposed her to a new level of boxing.

Babatunde Laguda, technical director of the Yucateco Boxing League, said the initiative was born out of an interest in discovering young female boxers in Nigeria.
“We want to build on the success recorded in this record,” Laguda said.
“We saw some of these girls in boxing leagues and thought it would be prudent to give them a more central platform to express themselves. I have seen many rich boxers and I must say their future is very bright.”
