EUGENE — It's been a busy but productive offseason for the Oregon Ducks football team. Oregon coach Dan Lanning and his coaching staff have been able to recruit several top national prospects, including four-star 2025 cornerback/wide receiver Brandon Finney from Owings Mill, Maryland, who will be visiting Eugene, according to The Oregon Report.
According to 247Sports, Oregon's freshman class of 2024 is ranked third and its freshman class of 2025 is ranked 22nd. The Ducks currently have seven players committed to the program in 2025. These players include Dallas Wilson, Nasir Wyatt Akili Smith Jr., De'Ell Hill, Matthew Johnson, Isaiah Mosey and Cooper Perry.
Lanning and his staff are working to add Finney to that list.
Finney is in his final year at McDonough School in Mayland, where he is coached by Hakeem Soule.
“Brandon's a rare breed,” Soule told Irish Breakdown , “He's a kid with great integrity, but he's also competitive. He's not afraid to put in the effort and compete. That's what really sets him apart.”
Finney had a successful season on both sides of the football during his junior year, recording 51 receptions for 632 yards and four touchdowns on offense, while on defense he recorded 22 total tackles, three interceptions, and another interception.
The 6-foot-2, 185-pound athlete holds scholarship offers from nearly 20 universities, including Georgia, Michigan, Notre Dame, Oregon, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Virginia Tech, West Virginia and Wisconsin.
“Oregon's coaching staff has coached Finney well in the past, and Finney knows them well,” Rivals' Adam Friedman said.
Finney is scheduled to visit Eugene, Oregon, on June 21 to evaluate the Oregon football program. Could Finney be the next Class of 2025 athlete to commit to Oregon?
