Texas Tech golfer Callum Scott shot a 4-under 68 on Sunday in Carlsbad, California, to advance through the 54-hole cut and into the fourth round of the NCAA Championship.
A hole-in-one on the 245-yard 12th hole on the Omni La Costa North Course was the highlight of Scott's round. The junior from Scotland dropped back to two strokes behind with a double bogey on the par-four 15th, but birdied the par-five 18th to finish two-over par after 54 holes.
The NCAA Championship began with 30 teams but was whittled down to 15 after Sunday's rounds, with the nine teams with the lowest scores eliminated from that group. Tech's men's team improved from 28th on Sunday to 17th with a 3-under round, the second-best of the day, but fell five strokes short of advancing and four strokes short of a playoff spot.
Baton Rouge Area medalist Bard Skogen shot 74-79 over the first two days before finishing in a tie for 40th with a final-round 3-under 69. The senior from Norway had four birdies and one bogey.
Matthew Comegys (79-74-75) finished at 12 over and Tylan Snyders (82-76-73) finished at 15 over. Vicente Marsilio shot 80-77 over the first two days and was replaced by Charles DeLong, who shot 79 on Sunday.

Texas Tech has advanced to the NCAA Championship four straight years, the past three at Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, Arizona. The Red Raiders finished tied for 13th in 2021 and tied for 15th last year, missing the playoffs out of the fourth round. In 2022, Tech finished eighth after 72 holes and lost to Vanderbilt in the quarterfinals of the match play.
Individual medalists will be decided after 72 holes on Monday, and the teams will be narrowed down to eight to be seeded into the match-play bracket starting Tuesday.
Illinois is two under par and leads the team race by six strokes. Virginia is four over par, Vanderbilt is nine over par and Florida State is ten over par. Rounding out the top eight are Ohio State at 13 over par, North Carolina and Auburn at 15 over par and Florida State at 20 over par.
In the individual rankings, Ohio State's Adam Wallin is at 5 under par, two strokes ahead of Virginia's Ben James and Stanford's Carl Vilips.
