Sacred Heart Martial Arts Academy in Randpark Ridge is proud and delighted to announce that five of the school's karate athletes have returned home with strong results at the prestigious South African National Children's Karate Championships held in April.
The event, known as one of the best competitions in the country, showcased exceptional talent and sportsmanship from local participants.
The athletes won medals at the Gauteng Provincial Championships earlier this year, allowing them to represent Gauteng at the highest level of competition in the country.
Under the expert guidance of Sensei Emma Wentzel, these young athletes demonstrated incredible dedication and skill on a national stage, bringing well-deserved recognition to their dojo and community. “Our athletes faced off against stiff competition and demonstrated incredible tenacity and determination,” said Sensei Wentzel. “Their performance is a true testament to their hard work and dedication.”
Am Kaluza, Aaron Kruger and AJ du Preez each placed third and won bronze medals in their respective categories. “Seeing Am, Aaron and AJ step onto the podium was a proud moment for everyone at Seishin High School. Their achievements are a reflection of their relentless hard work and passion for karate,” said Wenzel.
Ethan Naidoo and Usfir Kaluza also performed strongly, placing fifth and seventh in their kata. [The Japanese word for forms] “Ethan and Usfir may have missed out on the podium, but their performances were just as inspirational. They have shown great potential and we are very excited for their future in the sport.”
The competition demanded the best of the young athletes and their skills. Despite the difficulties, they rose to the occasion, pushing themselves to their limits and demonstrating the spirit of a true competitor. “The level of competition was incredibly high, but our athletes rose to the challenge. They pushed themselves beyond their limits and embodied the true spirit of karate.”
Mr Wenzel congratulated the athletes on their incredible achievements and said their success at national level has brought great pride and joy to the dojo and the wider community. “Their achievements are an inspiration to us all and we look forward to seeing their continued growth and future achievements in the karate world.”
