After missing the NBA playoffs for just the third time in 12 seasons, the Warriors will be busy this offseason trying to get back into postseason contention.
Addressing the needs of the roster will come first, many of which will include how Golden State uses popular sharpshooter Klay Thompson, who will be a free agent in July. Speculation surrounding Thompson and his future with Bey will continue all summer, as will rumors surrounding other soon-to-be NBA free agents.
The latest player to be linked to the Warriors is veteran shooter Malik Beasley, who has “early interest” from Golden State, The Athletic's Kelly Iko reported Tuesday, citing league sources.
Iko added that the 27-year-old Beasley has also attracted interest from the Houston Rockets and Orlando Magic.
The eight-year NBA veteran spent last season with the Milwaukee Bucks after stints with the Denver Nuggets, Minnesota Timberwolves, Utah Jazz and Los Angeles Lakers.
Beasley averaged 11.3 points, 3.7 rebounds and 1.4 assists on 44.3 percent from the field and 41.3 percent from 3-point range in 29.6 minutes for Milwaukee last season.
Beasley is a career 38.5 percent shooter from 3-point range and averaged 8.8 points on 51.2 percent from the field and 44.0 percent from deep in 21.8 minutes through the Bucks' first six games in Milwaukee's short-lived playoff run this season. They lost to the Indiana Pacers in the playoff series.
Regardless of how Thompson turns out with Golden State, Beasley would certainly provide reliable shooting depth for a team that has struggled with consistency throughout a turbulent 2023-24 season with shooters other than Stephen Curry.
