CEBU CITY, Philippines — After winning medals at the recent Marianas Pro Manila 2024, Studio 32 Martial Arts in Cebu will soon host its own tournament in hopes of further honing the skills of its Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) athletes. We are planning to hold a
Studio32 Martial Arts' BJJ team won 8 gold medals, 8 silver medals, and 5 bronze medals, taking 3rd place overall at the prestigious Marianas Pro Manila 2024, an international BJJ tournament.
Niño Castro, one of the founders and a coach, said he plans to soon hold an internal tournament called the Driller Bee Invitational at the company's headquarters at Baseline Center near Fuente Circle.

Importantly, this tournament is targeted at young people who participate as part of their preparation for a larger tournament. They organize this in collaboration with Cebuano Jason Mondigo of Fraction/Overlimit Jiu-Jitsu.

“The Jiu-Jitsu scene is growing very fast, with the largest and fastest growing community in Cebu outside of Manila. We host our own in-house tournament for kids called the Driller Bee Invitational. We will probably invite other kids from other teams as well,” Castro said.
Compete in various tournaments
In addition to that, they will be sending teams around the country to compete in various tournaments, and on top of that, they will be sending a team to compete in the Marianas Open in Guam.

The team gold medalists at the Marianas Pro Manila 2024 were Brian Cardines, Isabel Tupas, Gabriel Benavides, Isebara Rey Ignacio, Kian Ignacio, Meia Lim, Zion Bakungan and Teddy Que.
“I always know the kids are going to perform well.
My metric is performance, not ranking. When I see the kids putting in 100% effort in practices and games, I'm just as happy even if I come in last place. My job as a coach is to help them train to exceed their potential. '' Castro said.
Castro added that what makes Studio 32 unique from other martial arts and clubs in Cebu is the camaraderie that it offers, primarily for families, amid the competitive nature of martial arts and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.
In closing, Castro explained that he has always instilled in his team the hard work, character and integrity that have led to their recent success.
