Sunnyvale Martial Arts Academy, located in the heart of Silicon Valley, is thriving in its 36th year under the direction of Terry Lee. From humble beginnings with just his 1,700 square feet and zero students, Teri, with the help of his family, built his expansive 9,400 square foot school with multiple training floors.
The academy currently enrolls over 700 students, offers both Taekwondo and Jiu-Jitsu programs, and offers 25 classes per day.
In 2014, Tae-ri's oldest son, Jian Lee, joined her in teaching after graduating from college to carry on the martial arts tradition. Jian began expanding the curriculum from Korean arts to the introduction of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Today, the Jiu-Jitsu program has also been incorporated into Sunnyvale Martial Arts as a new way to grow the business and inspire students.
Cross-training in martial arts: Jann Lee studied Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu under Cesar Gracie during college and continued training with Mike Prudencio, finding new inspiration.
