Boxing is poised to break out with a new sports app in the first quarter of 2025.
This venture brought to the table comes from Stephen Marcano, who burst onto the scene years ago with the popular reality series “Knockouts,” which featured live boxing cards at the end of each season and more recently with live events and boxing interviews. Showcasing none other than Impact Network's champions and stars.
“The last five years in boxing have seen the exit of the two most powerful platforms, HBO and more recently Showtime,” Marcano said.
“Currently, boxing is dominated by DAZN and ESPN, with other apps such as Amazon Prime and Netflix on the rise. Of course, there are smaller outlets like Bally Sports and Impact Network, but the sport needs a new platform and we plan to announce that in the near future.”
The Impact venture was run solely by Marcano's SMH Group and produced, financed, did all matchmaking and distributed several boxing events on the platform from 2022 to 2023.
Marcano is a longtime member of Don King's inner circle, and has been involved in brokering the Iron Mike Promotions deal, Tyson's WWE contract, and Floyd Mayweather Jr.'s Narage Sports Management deal, and has many years in the field. It has been consistently successful over the years. 9 years.
Marcano returns to the field with an app that is expected to become one of the most mainstream sports apps. The app will be heavily focused on boxing content, as Marcano plans to offer live boxing events, reality shows such as the return of Knockouts, and another interview and news show similar to Stars & Champions.
In addition to providing boxing content, Marcano will also produce documentaries on all sports.
The Lamar Odom and Caitlyn Jenner podcast produced by Marcano was supposed to be the featured show, but that's not the case as technical constraints delayed the app's launch.
Marcano is known as a mover and shaker in the sports world and has brokered millions of dollars in revenue. He is in talks with several major sports officials and has a number of fighters ready to join the project.
Don't be surprised if Marcano replicates the success he had with Impact Boxing and finds himself and his new venture in the No. 3 spot by the summer of 2025.
Get ready, because a new major platform, Only Sports, is just around the corner.
