Who do you think should be the Men's Player of the Year? Here are the five finalists:
Emmy Aranda, Vandegrift
Aransas finished his high school career with impressive numbers of 23 goals and 9 assists, leading the Vipers to the District 25-6A championship, the first UIL state soccer tournament appearance in program history, and an overall record of 22-3-2 on the season. I got my grades.
Jake Ciccarello, Bowie
Ciccarello was a rock as a senior for the Bulldogs, who, thanks to great play from their midfielders and help with their distribution, posted a 22-1-2 record and advanced to the third round of the Class 6A state playoffs.
Lawrence Do, Connally
Doe had 31 goals and 13 assists as the Cougars won District 23-5A and advanced to the second round of the playoffs.
Tito Donjuan, Glenn
The Grizzlies junior had 25 goals and 23 assists this season, leading Glenn to a 29-1-1 record and a berth in the Class 5A state tournament.
Martin Valdez, Georgetown
Valdez scored an astonishing 41 goals and 10 assists for an Eagles team that advanced to the second round of the Class 5A playoffs and finished with 18 wins.
