CHESTER, Pa. (CBS/AP) – A raccoon briefly interrupted a soccer game between the Philadelphia Union and New York City FC at Subaru Park in Chester, Pennsylvania, on Wednesday night.
The creature escaped from ground personnel for over two minutes before being captured. Remove safely using trash can.
The team tweeted that the little rogue was safely released by a pest control company.
“Unofficially, Raquinho the Raccoon spent 161 seconds on the field tonight, the most by a raccoon in MLS history,” Major League Soccer Communications reported on X.
New York won 2-1, giving the Union their fourth straight home loss for the first time in club history.
The union recently made a different history by signing on. Cavan Sullivan, 14 years old, the youngest player in team history to be added to the first-team roster, and the fifth-youngest player in MLS history. If Sullivan debuted by July 29, 2024, he will be the youngest debut player in the North American top professional sports league and the youngest debut in the Top 5 Soccer League in Europe.
