Lycans Martial Arts Academy in Kilmarnock is offering free Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu training to women and teenagers this month.
The gym, on Holmquarry Road, offers more than 40 classes a month, including morning and weekend sessions.
Head coach David Sharp, a black belt under Marcos Nardini, said: “We believe that Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu has transformative potential, especially for women and teenagers, who are currently underrepresented.'' “We are providing free training to women and teenagers.”
“By offering free training, we are creating an inclusive space where they can discover the empowering benefits of martial arts, including building confidence, self-defense skills, and improving physical fitness.
“Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is a great sport for women and teens because it provides practical self-defense skills, develops confidence and empowerment, promotes physical fitness and mental resilience, and provides a supportive community. In addition, it plays an important role in keeping teens' off the streets and out of trouble by providing an outlet for their energy and curiosity.
David, 30, added: “As a small business with deep roots in our local community, we appreciate the support given to us and enjoy giving back where we can. Anyone who is interested is welcome to attend any class in the city,” he added. our current schedule.

The offer began in early May and several women and teenagers have already been seen enjoying training at Lycans Martial Arts Academy.
