Delaney Crawford and Grady Brosterhouse both came to Virginia as quarterbacks in the 2022 freshman class. Less than two years later, both players appear to be on their way out of the program, with Crawford and Brosterhaus reportedly entering the transfer portal this week.
Grady Brosterhaus, a 6-foot-2, 210-pound quarterback from Weddington, N.C., served as UVA's No. 3 QB last season but attempted only 21 passes against Georgia Tech. He only completed one attempt for a yard. He is used in short-yardage QB sneak situations and was fairly successful last season, gaining seven yards on four rushing attempts.
Of course, the University of Virginia's quarterback situation is pretty solidified at the top, with Anthony Colandrea and Tony Muskett guaranteed to be the starter and backup, but that order is up for debate. UVA's third-string quarterback in 2024 will likely be New Mexico State transfer Gavin Frakes, who signed with the Cavaliers in January. This pecking order will likely be confirmed in spring football, with Broster House putting their names in the transfer portal.
Brosterhaus completed 7 of 14 pass attempts for 51 yards in the spring game a few weeks ago, while Frakes went 4-of-9 for 55 yards in the spring game.
Delaney Crawford, an incredible two-way quarterback and sprinter, switched to wide receiver for the 2023 season, but did not play in a single game in each of his two seasons at UVA. There wasn't.
The University of Virginia returns key receivers Malachi Fields, J.R. Wilson, and Souderian Harrison, and adds transfers Chris Tyree, Andre Green Jr., and Trell Harris, making Crawford a stable player in 2024. Since he was unlikely to be on the field, he also entered the portal.
Virginia welcomed 16 players into the transfer portal this offseason, with Grady Brosterhaus and Delaney Crawford entering the transfer portal. Conversely, UVA has added 12 players through the transfer portal this offseason, as Dartmouth graduate offensive line transfer Ethan Sipe announced his transfer to Virginia with two years of eligibility remaining. The latest additions arrived earlier this week.
