We had success through free agency. Passed the draft. Currently, the roster is almost decided. It's the perfect time to understand what's in store for your NFL roster situation.
So let's continue with another year of power rankings of fantasy football teams.
I researched all 32 NFL depth charts and created fantasy power rankings for the franchises. Here's how interesting this team is from a fantasy perspective and how much every offensive huddle could benefit us.
[2024 Fantasy Draft Rankings: QBs | RBs | WRs | TEs | D/ST | Kickers]
This is a subjective list and your groupings should look different in parts. That's what makes it fun. That's why we have games.
We revisit this list at least once before the season and then re-rank each quarter during the season. Check out these refreshing and fun ways to get ready for the season.
It's always a great day to talk football and dream about the next fantasy championship.
This is perhaps the last dance for the NFL's most talented collection of talent. When the Niners selected Ricky Pearsall in the first round of April's draft, they made a statement that Deebo Samuel and Brandon Aiyuk likely wouldn't be on the team next season. It's never personal, it's just business. The price of stardom is that you can't keep everyone. The genius of Christian McCaffrey's receiving workload is that it allows for tackles from lighter defenders, but the Niners probably don't want to give him another 272 carries. But I would still automatically pick McCaffrey first in any draft room.
As the calendar turned to December, Jalen Hurts was named MVP and the Eagles had a 10-1 record. But the last seven games were a nightmare. They had just one win after a no-show loss in the playoffs at Tampa Bay. The Eagles were right not to panic and blow things up. With key players back (both star receivers were extended), Saquon Barkley will be able to handle some of the short-yardage duties that were given to Hurts. Perhaps this will help Hearts keep five months of struggle fresher.
The curse of being good in the NFL is that your belongings are often raided: players, coaches, even ideas. The good news in Detroit is that the band is back together. All of the main offensive linemen will return, including OC Ben Johnson. Amon-Ra St. Brown is one of the highest first-round picks on the floor, and David Montgomery should once again crush his away ADP. Jameson Williams' breakout is also clear.
Generally speaking, running backs are something you want to avoid in their late 20s, but Derrick Henry is already 30 years old. But King Henry, coupled with rushing touchdowns and a mobile quarterback who won't take away the offensive line, is a perfect fit here. That's what drives people. After Mark Andrews was injured, tight end Isaiah Riley was outstanding. The challenge this year will be to find a way to use both together, likely becoming a hybrid receiver in nature.
Fixing a downtrodden franchise is easy. All you have to do is hit a home run for the head coach and quarterback. DeMeco Ryans and CJ Stroud, take a bow. And coach fans can rest assured that the Texans were able to retain highly-regarded OC Bobby Slowik. Stroud has receivers who can challenge every spot on the field, and Joe Mixon lands in the perfect spot, gets a reliably predictable amount, and even if his efficiency metrics aren't great, he's an 8-10 receiver. Likely to score a touchdown.
Somehow, they took advantage of the bridge year offensively and turned it into a Super Bowl parade. Really neat trick, Andy Reid and Patrick Mahomes. Speed merchants Marquise Brown and Xavier Worthy shored up the defense, and Isaiah Pacheco finished every run like it was the last of his career. For the first time in a while, Travis Kelce is no longer the pole position standard for tight ends. Such is life as he enters his age 34 season.
No one expects Raheem Mostert to score 21 touchdowns, but what's the point? dozen? Five? 10? His odometer is pretty tame, but he's also entering his age 32 season. De'Von Achane will always have a workload ceiling, but his 7.8 YPC stands out. He also has the ability to catch 40 passes.
It's a top-tier fantasy roster with Puka Nacua and Kyren Williams at the top, and a wide gap after that. Is Cooper Kupp still capable of becoming a clear-cut WR2? How much will rookie RB Blake Collum reduce Williams' workload? Matthew Stafford is by no means a sure bet to play a full season, but now he's stepping into his age-36 campaign. Still, it's hard to look away from Sean McVay's brilliant offense.
I found it difficult to rank these guys. I still think a 20-touchdown season is in the cards for Ja'Marr Chase, and Joe Burrow is a legitimate MVP candidate when healthy. However, Burroughs has had losing seasons in two of his four seasons, and his post-Chase skill talent is just fine. The backfield is uninspiring, but probably a good value between retread Zack Moss and second-year runner Chase Brown.
Everyone knew the Bills and Stefon Diggs were heading for a divorce, but now the challenge is finding a shocker among Khalil Shaquille, Curtis Samuel and rookie Keon Coleman. Skeptics will keep calling Coleman slow in the 40s, but I think there's a bit of Courtland Sutton in him. Dalton Kincaid is a rare tight end and will likely lead the team in targets.
Shane Steichen is a plot genius, and Anthony Richardson played the part before a shoulder injury derailed his rookie year. Playmakers throughout, especially Jonathan Taylor and Michael Pittman Jr., will make the Colts a must-see program on TV in 2024.
All we wanted was to see what this talented collection of skills would do with a good quarterback and offensive play-caller not named Arthur Smith. . This fall, that hypothesis will become reality. Drafting Michael Penix Jr. was the best thing ever after signing Kirk Cousins, but Cousins isn't looking over his shoulder in 2024.
I don't think it was the deepest sample, but somehow head coach Kevin O'Connell coached a juicy 8.8 YPA from Nick Mullens and an impressive 8.4 YPA from Jalen Hall. And now he has an interesting QB stopgap in Sam Darnold and a first-round prospect in JJ McCarthy. Even in the face of an indoor-heavy schedule, the Vikings can still be a pinball machine.
Breece Hall has a chance to be next year's magazine's trendiest cover boy. I will continue to follow Garrett Wilson's brilliant talent unless someone stops me. All they need is competent quarterback play, and Aaron Rodgers can provide that with a healthy season.
It may seem strange that the Cowboys are ranked this low, but other than CeeDee Lamb, who are you excited to draft on this roster? I'm going to move every mountain I can to make sure that. He has a legitimate chance of hitting 200 targets in an era when most teams have pivoted to the idea of spreading the ball around.
I wanted to aim even higher with this offense. Jordan Love is the real deal, and Josh Jacobs should have another productive season. It's hard to see how the ball will be distributed among three interesting young wideouts in Christian Watson, Romeo Dubs and Jaden Reed. Rooms at the narrow end also have crowding issues. Once the usage is resolved, the Packers will probably jump to a dream level.
The Bears have never hit a home run as a quarterback, but Caleb Williams is stepping into a comfortable seat. It's hard to predict who Williams will decide the fastest, but DJ Moore seems like a reasonable third-round target to me.
Baker Mayfield will revive his career in 2023, and Mike Evans has already put together a Hall of Fame resume. Volume was the main reason Rashard White became the set-and-forget fantasy standard last year. However, rookie Bucky Irving has enough ability to push him into 2024. Chris Godwin is reliable among the 20s, but lacks touchdowns. He has spiked just 10 of his past 46 starts.
Last year's offensive line fell apart before the season even started in earnest, with the offensive line ravaged by injuries on opening day. His new OC, Ryan Grubb, was the architect behind Michael Penix Jr. at the University of Washington. Now he's trying to rebuild Geno Smith's trust. Nobody in Seattle's passing game lived up to ADP expectations last year, but the price has dropped this spring.
Does Trevor Lawrence have the ability to be a superstar or is he just a quarterback who isn't great? Everyone gives him a fair passing grade for the one season Urban Meyer lost. However, 2024 will be his third year with a capable coach. Jacksonville's passing game is congested, but Christian Kirk's early ADP makes it easy to capitalize on.
Derek Carr was quietly excellent last year (14 touchdowns, 2 picks), but it always feels like the team is looking for his replacement. Chris Olave is already solidly established, but I have no problem drafting him with a third-year breakout in mind. Rashid Shahid is the type of player with a set ceiling, but his outstanding efficiency last year should force him into a bigger role.
Trey Benson pushes James Conner into the backfield, Trey McBride is on the verge of stardom, and Marvin Harrison Jr. could be a plug-and-play star from Opening Day. Kyler Murray has a great chance to get his mojo back. The Cardinals may not be a great team in 2024, but they would be a fun fantasy watch. There's plenty of potential for spikes here.
It's the third year of the Deshaun Watson era, and despite an enviable collection of pass catchers, there's still no reason to expect him to return to his glory in Houston. Nick Chubb is coming back from a scary blown out knee, but he may not be 100% at any point in 2024. Cleveland's outstanding defense can protect the Browns in any game. This team might play a lot of 19-on-16 rock fights this year.
The Steelers did not pick up Najee Harris' fifth-year option, but that doesn't mean he can't return to command for one more season. Of course, Harris is trending in the wrong direction as RB4, RB12, and RB20. The Steelers' offensive line is subpar, with no ideal quarterback between Russell Wilson and Justin Fields. Both players have too many sacks, but Fields is also capable of rushing for 1,000 yards given a full season.
Rookie standout Jaden Daniels has a wide range of stats, but he's still the quarterback with the highest upside Terry McLaurin has ever played with. That's a victory. Jahan Dotson has to be better than he showed last year. Like McLoughlin, I have no problem blaming the elements around me. Daniels is the type of quarterback who is likely to tuck and run rather than check down, which could limit new running back Austin Ekeler's receiving turnaround.
The long-term quarterback solution for the Raiders is not currently on the roster. Davante Adams will probably have 10 more touchdowns regardless of who's throwing the ball, and new feature back Zamir White pops up at the end of 2023. Given this team's spotty quarterback room and the state of the team, the selection of Brock Bowers did not please the fantasy community with the presence of reliable sophomore tight end Michael Mayer.
Last season, Sean Payton somehow got a fantastically profitable year out of Russell Wilson, but maybe that was a statement about how the Broncos couldn't run the ball to the goal line. Maybe. The backfield is in limbo entering spring training, with Courtland Sutton being the only active pick this offense has going into early draft season.
New head coach Jim Harbaugh and new OC Greg Roman are pinning on Justin Herbert's fantasy value because they like to run to set up runs. Rookie quarterback Rudd McConkie is already the obvious favorite to lead the team in catches, but no one on this roster may be able to surpass 900 receiving yards.
This is a show-stopping year for Daniel Jones, but at least the addition of Malik Nabors gives him a much-needed downfield playmaker. Devin Singletary rarely hits home runs as a featured back, but he usually does something useful with the ball. I have no intention of giving up on head coach Brian Daboll.
The Titans are doing everything they can to support Will Levi, giving him three veteran receivers and a retooled offensive line. The name added to the backfield was Tony Pollard, but holdover Tyjay Spears might be the right answer there.
Jacoby Brissett's presence means the Patriots don't have to force Drake Maye on the field until he's ready. Jaylin Polk was the safer of the two rookie wideouts New England selected, but fourth-round sleeper Javon Baker may have the higher ceiling.
32. Carolina Panthers
Dave Canales has performed miracles before. His biggest challenge now is getting Bryce Young up to speed. Jonathan Brooks has been selected as a notable player in the backfield, but given his torn ACL in November, expectations for his first season should remain reasonable. .
