The women's professional soccer team will soon call Fair Park's Cotton Bowl Stadium its home.
The Dallas City Council on Wednesday approved a plan to bring a women's team to Fair Park for at least the next two years.
“I'm excited for Dallas to bring a women's professional soccer team to our city, and in just a few months, I'll be able to watch them play at the Cotton Bowl, 10 minutes away on DART,” said Dallas City Councilman Chad West. I'm very excited to be able to do it.” “This news means a lot to many soccer fans, but especially to young girls like my eight-year-old daughter, who has been playing soccer since she could walk. It means professional sports will get the spotlight it deserves, and there's no better place than here in Dallas.”
The Dallas team is one of eight teams to participate in the inaugural year of the USL Super League, with details expected to be announced Thursday at Klyde Warren Park.
The league will debut teams from Dallas, Brooklyn, Charlotte, Fort Lauderdale, Lexington, Spokane, Tampa, and Washington, DC. Starting in 2025, the league plans to expand with clubs in Chattanooga, Indianapolis, Jacksonville, Madison, Oakland, Palm Beach, Phoenix and Tucson.
“The USL Super League, created for the future of women's soccer, adheres to U.S. Soccer's Division 1 standards,” the team said in a statement. “The league will play on the traditionally adopted 'fall-to-summer' soccer calendar around the world and will culminate in the USL's distinctive youth-to-professional women's path.”
The team becomes the second women's professional sports team to announce play in Dallas this month. Last week, the WNBA's Dallas Wings announced they would relocate from their home base in Arlington to Dallas to play at the Dallas Memorial Auditorium starting in 2026. Dallas lured the Wings from Arlington with a 15-year, $19 million contract, the team's centerpiece. Attractions at the venue.
“I want to thank Mayor Johnson for his leadership in championing the move of professional sports to our city, and Councilman Adam Bazaldua for his efforts to revitalize and utilize Fair Park and the Cotton Bowl,” West said.
