A new semi-pro soccer team has found a partner in the University of Wisconsin-Marshfield-Stevens Point.
The Marshfield-based Wisconsin Conquerors Football Club practices and trains on the Marshfield campus in preparation for its inaugural season in 2024. The team was founded by Dr. Alexander Ed and is coached by Ricardo Pedro.
“UWSP at Marshfield is excited to welcome Conquerors to our campus and community,” said Tony Andrews, UWSP at Marshfield campus executive. “We take pride in our health and wellness programs and are proud to provide facilities for team training, weightlifting and practice.”
The club, an expansion team in the National Premier Soccer League (NPSL), will open the NPSL season with a home game against the Kansas City Sol on Saturday, May 18, at Greenheck Fieldhouse in Weston, Wisconsin. . Tickets for all home games are available at https://wisconsinconquerors.org/npsl-tickets. They will also compete in Major Arena Soccer League 2, playing an exhibition game against the U-19s at Marshfield on Saturday, May 11th.
Three members of the UWSP Pointer men's soccer team, current students Gylfi Aliu of Wisconsin Rapids and Riley Stevens of Sun Prairie, and freshman Shade Kaiser of Stevens Point, will also play for the Conquerors.
In addition to its partnership with UWSP in Marshfield, the Conquerors also partner with the Marshfield Youth Soccer Association to develop players and coaches for the Central Wisconsin soccer community.
“Having the Conquerors at UWSP on the Marshfield campus is a great opportunity to support the Marshfield community and inspire future soccer players, coaches and fans,” said UWSP President Thomas Gibson. “We are excited to help welcome the new team home.”
